Introducing the c-card - free condoms and Chlamydia screening for all 13-25 year old in Coventry

What happens at registration?

To get free condoms you need to register for the c-card scheme. This means going along to a registration point and having a confidential* chat with a trained c-card worker.

A c-card registration can take as little as 10 minutes, but it could also take up to 45 minutes or more, depending on how many questions you have. So make sure you leave yourself enough time when you come to register. If you are in a rush it might be worth coming back another day.

Some things a c-card worker will discuss with you during registration are:

  • Confidentiality*
  • About you
  • Discussing sex and relationships
  • Your safety
  • Chlamydia screen
  • How to use a condom correctly
  • What to do if a condom splits or you have unprotected sex

Once the c-card worker has completed the registration you will be given a c-card key fob, which you can attach to your keys. This card has got a bar code and 8 digit numbers on the back which is unique to you, so remember only you can use your c-card!

You can then go to ANY distribution point for up to ten times** to get free condoms- simple. After the tenth time, you will need to go back to ANY registration point and re-register, which means having a confidential chat* with a c-card worker so they can check everything is still ok, this also gives you the opportunity to ask any more questions you may have.

Remember! You can ask questions at any point during registration, c-card workers are trained to speak to you about your sexual health, so there is no need to be embarrassed!

Remember! Getting free condoms does not mean you have to have sex, it's about being prepared and getting clued up about safer sex!

**In line with the c-card confidentiality statement
